February 2014, Lancaster, CA – The Burkey & Cox team participated in the “Color Me RAD 5K Charity Run” held at the Pioneer Event Center. This was the first charity race of its kind held in the Antelope Valley. More than 5000 people participated, with the event raising funds for needy families throughout the Valley.
The Burkey & Cox team wore their bright-white T-shirts with the firm's logo on the front and back. Their cleanliness lasted all of 5 seconds once they hit the starting gate of Color Me Rad, as they were sprayed with the first wave of bright color. Color stations were set up throughout the 5K to add more and more color to each individual. In case that still wasn't enough color, bags of colored corn-starch were made available to participants to toss into the air themselves and hit each other with.
“We had a blast,” said Laura Bradford, CPA and Partner. “I was so happy that almost everyone at the firm participated.”
Color Me Rad is loosely based on the Hindu Festival of Colors, otherwise known as, Holi. Just as you usher in a new year of radness in your life by signing up for Color Me Rad, Hindus usher in a new season, spring. The festive colors used are a sign of winter’s end and spring’s new beginnings.
